Have finally taken the plunge to import all my photos into Lightroom, having previously been a happy Aperture user but feel the time is right to fully take the plunge.

Planning on using the File>plugins>import feature in Lightroom. From those who have gone before me, is there anything I need to bear in mind whilst I do this?

And I assume when I'm finished, I can just delete the Aperture library from my hard drive?

And if I select the target for the import to my main Pictures directory, I assume it'll maintain some sort of logical folder structure and not just dump them all willy nilly in the directory?

Cheers!

A bit of confusion, I think, perhaps I didm't explain myself properly.

i'm on about moving my whole library from Aperture into Lightroom! I have/had a decent workflow for importing into Aperture.

I started using Aperture when I first got a Mac, having used LR prior to that on my Windows laptop. I let Aperture manage the whole thing but now want it all back in the more traditional directory structure.

The built in LR import from Aperture feature seems the easiest, but I've realised that in life if things are too easy, there's often some catch, so was hoping to see if I could learn from anybody else's mistakes!
