Importing Itunes, what format?

Hiya

Not sure what format to import my cd's into. AAC 256kbps or MP3 192kbps, so so confused which to choose, i want the best quality but obviously dont want anything as big as apple loseless thats like 25-35mb a song right? i only have an ipod help help

I see you can choose MP3 at like 256kbps too, which is best?

AAC is superior to MP3. It's just a better encoding IMO.

You'd generally get better compatibility with MP3, but it's not worth the downgrade in quality.

As for bitrate.. 192kbps will be fine for most people, but go with 256 or 320kbps (AAC) and you'll find the filesize will stay reasonable.
 
AAC.

AAC 128kbps is superior to MP3 192kbps. AAC 256kpbs is nearly indistinguishable from the original. Most of my imports from CD are AAC 192kbps.

FYI the music on the iTunes store is AAC @ 128kbps, iTunes Plus is 256kbps.
 
Ogg Vorbis is alright, although last time I checked it wasn't in iTunes
