I have just updated a laptop from Office 2000 to Office 2007, now when I try to import the old .pst file into Office 2007 I get an error message saying that the file I'm importing is not a pst file when it clearly is. Is there some kind of incompatibility from 2000 to 2007? How would I import this file?

Yes there is problem, infact the pst format changed between 2000 and 2003. The solution may be to install 2000 then upgrade to 2007 this should then convert the pst files.

Cheers

Jeff

rather than import it, goto your profile and add it as a data file. i think you can then choose the older format and hopefully it will work. :)

I tried to import the file from my profile only to be told that the .pst file is not a personal folder file. Looks like I'm going to have to try and find my Office 2000 cd

did you try and add it like i said, not import it? :p

Sure did - none of the two options listed work (same error for both) this .pst file is not a personal file folder.
Thanx for your help but after Googling for over an hour it looks like the only solution is to reinstall Office 2000 (if I can find the disc that is!!!)
