So what is everyone's favourite footballing record???

For those who are unaware Jose Mourinho (The Special One) still has an unbeaten league home record stretching to 143 matches unbeaten. That's 38 matches (W36–D2) with Porto, 60 matches (W46–D14) with Chelsea, 38 matches (W29–D9) with Internazionale and 7 matches (W7-D0) with Real Madrid.

His last and only home league defeat came when Porto were defeated 3–2 by Beira-Mar on 23 February 2002.

That's nearly 9 years since his last home league defeat. Seriously impressive.

A few other impressive records that spring to mind include Gary lineker in 16 years as a professional footballer never picking up a single yellow or red card.

And Matt Le Tissier also gets a small mention for scoring 48/49 penalties in his career. (he missed one, so i'm not as impressed)

So are there any other incredible records out there that you know of? :)

What about Ronaldo's and Messi's scoring records. For modern day football, with more negative formations goals fall to forwards rather than strikers mostly.

Not the first to do it. Billy Wright retired as a player in August 1959 having made his debut in 1939. During his total of 541 appearances for Wolves and his 105 games for England, his disciplinary record was second to none — he was never cautioned or sent off by any referee.

Without taking too much away from those guys, you've got to remember that cautions weren't handed out nearly as frequently as they are today.

Brentdord have two records, not sure which is most impressive:

- pub on every corner of the ground (most people know this one)

- We're the only team to have one every single on of our home games during a season of more that 42 games. Taken from Wiki - In the 1929-30 season, the side won all 21 of its home matches in the Third Division South, but still missed out on promotion. They are the last of six teams in English football to amass a perfect home record, and the only one to do so over a season of 42 matches or more. Can't believe we didn't get promoted... some things never change :(

When Celtic won the European Cup in 1967, the winning side were not only all Scots, but every player was born within 30 miles of Parkhead.

We were also the first side in the EPL to get an unbeaten away and home record on its own I think. Either has since been repeated by Chelsea and I think UTD in a recent season.
