Improve software side of Motorola RAZR Maxx Hd? (root etc?)

So it looks like none of the latest flag ship phones hit the mark in terms of improvements over my phone

But I do find mine getting a bit sluggish especially with 1GB ram

This is a fairly unique phone to have here and I have never rooted or anything any other phone I have
Seeing as I might have this for at least 6mths to a year more what are my options?

Have you got KitKat on it yet? That should be a nice difference

Kitkat should make a difference you are still on Jellybean at the moment.

Kitkat made a massive difference on my Razr M, night and day performance, Chrome especially went from barely usable to snappy and pretty much flawless apart from the stupid font\zoom issue on vBulletin

Looks like I do have an update to 4.4
I am always tentative about updates.

Previously almost every update has demanded more performance from old phones I have had and made them slower.
This seems to get good opinions almost everywhere

I shall try it tonight

Just downloaded new Android
Is actually like having a new phone!
Never have I downloaded an update that has improved os speed!

Glad I didn't go for a new one now. And this is only a dual core

Think it's 4.4.2.

kitkat improves performance and demands less. the minimum requirement for kitkat is only 512mb ram.
