Currently using Sky broadband in London. I'd like to improve download speed if possible

I seem to have a 2Km cable run from the exchange so get bad stats. At one point the telephone line was really bad with static on voice calls (Edit: This seems to have got better so must have been a temp fault). Had the sky engineer switch me to ADSL 2 and that bought it back up to 8Mbit down. I need to try using that engineers socket when I get a chance, just wondering if the DGTeam firmware or another firmware could help with the sky router?

Code:
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 11306259 10773793 0 7749 7988 104:05:32
LAN 10M/100M 5359266 3238825 0 6070 1704 104:07:01
WLAN 11M/54M 13939842 16787052 0 9964 2603 104:06:53

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8068 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.5 db 29.5 db
Noise Margin 4.9 db 7.5 db

Thanks in advance

From Kitz ADSL checker:

Exchange Information
Exchange: Putney. BT Code: LSPUT
Location: Montserrat Road, SW15 2LB
Distance:- Direct: 2.06 km
(appx)* By Road: 2.09 km

Looks like they must have some odd cable runs to double the line length!

You never can tell the cable length from the crow distance that samknows gives you. My house is 400m straight line distance but in the line length is about 2.5km.
