Improving Internal Wiring?

Hi all,

My local exchange has just been put on the BT Infinity website under the 31st December 2012 title. First of all, does anyone know if this means it will be done by 31st December? or on the 31st?

I'm currently getting 3.5mb d/l speed which has slowly dropped from the 5mb I was getting 2-3 years ago. My internal wiring is very old, the master socket is a normal socket with one of these behind it:

The master socket is currently in the back bedroom, I would like to get it moved to the front bedroom but I doubt I would be able to do it. Would it cost a lot to get a BT engineer out to do it?

My router stats:

Do you think I could get another 1-2mb if the internal wiring was improved?

Cheers

Depends what you get when you plug the modem into the test socket/master socket compared to what you get where it's plugged currently.

I haven't got a test socket lol, that's how old it is :p It's plugged into the master socket now.

@Mike306 I thought it would be something like that. Would that be £165 to fix it or £165 just for them to knock my front door lol. I haven't phoned them yet as I don't think it's worth paying just for an extra 1-2mb.

I just checked the BT website and they charge £130 for the call out charge which includes any equipment they need to swap. I was expecting to pay £300+ so this seems quite cheap :p

Thanks for all your help/advice.
