Has anyone managed to configure the music browser within Media Center? I find it slow, and with the large font/icons it only fits 9 artists at any one time.

I also can't fast forward or rewind music or movie files, or change subtitle or audio streams on the fly (I have discrete IR codes with MX-700 HTM remote)My £70 Mpeg-IV DVD player could do this.

You'll have to live with it, unless you buy a widescreen (that gives you 4x3 - 12 artists per page, afaik). Vista's MCE includes an awful lot more albums per page.

You can't rewind music, for some unknown reason. You should be able to fast forward through it, and you definitely should be able to FF and RW movies. Not sure about subtitling or audio streams - never tried, tbh.

To: Change the DVD subtitles selection - Press: CTRL+U
To: Change the DVD audio selection - Press: CTRL+SHIFT+A

Is there a beta of the Vista MCE that you can look at?

You can see screenshots over at www.winsupersite.com from the latest CTP releases.

Vista Beta 2 is being released as a Public Preview sometime later this month. Latest estimate was being available to people at WinHEC sometime around 24th May, and being available to the public around the 27th May.
