Go to the Skyhook website and submit your access point information.

Obviously, the more people who do this then the better the maps feature can work :)

I just submitted mine (tip: Use Google Maps to get the longitude, lattitude readings.. the built in web-snippet on the Skyhook site isn't too great)

Thought I'd be a dirty pirate and bump this, seeing as the amount of users with iPhones has surged somewhat ;)

I did mine a while ago, and it actually has a location for me.. so I can confirm it does take affect.

Nice way of creating a spam marketing database. Your MAC address, email and location...

"Note: User submitted data gets processed daily by Skyhook and then is made available to our partners. Depending on the update frequency of our partners, data entered here can take up to 7 days to be included in the WPS results. One interim option is to download Loki, our location-based toolbar."

Read: We sell your info every day to anyone that wants it.. then we can spam your email with adverts from companies near you..
That's why you submit the information with an email account that has a suitable and sufficient spam-filter

As it stood, I would never have gotten Locate me to work before I submitted the information. I live 1 mile from anyone, and 2 or 3 miles from the main roads. It is just nice to have "something" to use, prior to true GPS.

EVH - Fancy posting this on the blog? More exposure's got to be a good thing.

I would, but someone changed the posting platform and didn't inform me of the changes so my last post was lost in space :/
