Improving Water loop

Its had me wondering if my cpu block is a weak point in my loop and swapping it for something a little better would give me another few degrees.

Heatkiller, EK Supreme are the most likely candidated.

Secondly would swapping my Xilence redwings with Gelid 120s or Gentle Typhoons give a drop in temps without losing too much airflow

And finally can anyone recommend a waterblock for the 8800GT that offers good VFM

Loop order

Res/Pump-> EK Rad -> RS120 -> CPU

Gentle Typhoons are really good fans I've just got one myself (1850rpm) I'm so impressed by it I've ordered a truck load more there quite too and will drop a few c off your temps.

I'd probably stick with the Vortexx Neo tbh as i couldn't manage to find a fullcover block for my 9800GT which is basically the same as a 8800GT depending on pcb layouts but your need to buy a universal vga block EK with some heatsinks for the memory and vrms

I thought you were going to get a GTX260 with a new psu for your rig ?

The EK Supreme HF are probably the best blocks at the moment. The universal version fit's every current socket as well.

When i had my 8800GT i used the same block i am using now on my 5850. A Aquaextreme MP-1. I have had the same block on 5 different cards now and it's still going strong. It's a core only block and externally is the same as a Dangerden Maze 4 although much different internally. I just use Zalman ramsinks on the memory and have never had any problems with any of my cards. You should be able to pick up a second hand DD Maze 4 or 5 on the bay for around a fiver.
