hi
thanks for the quick reply. to be honest I haven't thought of a budget yet, maybe just a change of card will bring the system up. my CPU is not over clocked.

Gaming is all about the Graphics card now a days I would suggest a new Graphics card,
chances are though if you get a new card you might need a new PSU as well depending
on how much power the new card will draw.

IF you dont want to change your PSU, im sure a very slight O/C of your CPU, then add a GTX 560 or simular performance GPU. Im quite sure that a 560 will be fine with a Corsair 550w.

thanks for the reply.
any suggestions on graphics card and PSU would be appreciated, and is it just a question of slotting one card in and taking the other out.

Fair enough.

A nice new card like this would give you a nice boost in terms of gaming performance. Your existing corsair VX 550W PSU is excellent and doesn't need to be upgraded, even if you install a relatively high-power card like the HD 5850.

However, in some games your 2.66GHz core 2 quad CPU will bottleneck performance. Since your CPU is so overclockable and the P5Q board you are using is so excellent then I would strongly suggest investing in a decent aftermarket CPU cooler (like this one) and try your hand at overclocking. With that board and CPU an overclock to 3.5-3.6GHz is very possible.

It's also worth considering going for an SSD to install your OS and key apps on - this will make your whole system feel a lot more responsive. This one is good value and performs well.

Hi
just as a matter of interest, if I wanted to upgrade my system and install the best graphics card what card would it be and what other parts would I need to upgrade.thanks in advance
