Right so I've stumbled across 2 980 Tis reference for £600 I've got a 1080 FTW on pre-order and I paid £597 so basically the same cost, now I'm getting inpatient though SLI hasn't been great so I've been reading lately, though when SLI works the 980 ti SLI blows the 1080 out of the water and will handle 4k so much better. the only thing is it's a 3 hour drive for me as he wont post and I want to see them work, so guys asking for your help what would you do cheers :)

I'd get the 980TI's over the 1080. The 980TI on it's own is a small decrease from the 1080 and two of them working together would be great.

I ran SLI for a looooong time recently, and I had very little issue with it. It's not perfect for sure, I'd say 75% of the games I played benefited well.

And if you decide you don't like SLI? Sell one of them.

That's very true on what you said about selling the one Ti probably sell to my twin still rocking a 660 Ti :) I've had a Ti before but honestly thought the 1080 was going to be more performance and less cash, though not the case I thought what was the point in getting another Ti, but since seeing these 2 cards for the same price as 1 1080 these 2 cards will definitely last me untill the price settles on VEGA and Big Pascal :D

get the two 980ti's.

Sell them when the 1080ti comes out.

The 1080 is definitely not worth two 980ti's.

I just read the bit about the 3 hour drive. You have to factor that into your costs. Get him to knock something off the price for the drive!! :)

I might ask him to knock £30 off as it's 3 hours there and 3 hours back :p though 2 Ti's will be fantastic for 4k! I might wait it out till the 17th if I don't have my FTW 1080 my order will be getting cancelled and I'll pick up the 2 Ti's

thank you everyone for your help and kind messages! :)
Decided I'll hold out I think it was a rash thought but like people have said Maxwell drivers are done now and wont get any better whereas Pascal will, as well as SLI issues and looking at some games I play ( DOOM, The evil within) don't support sli so the 1080 will be a good chunk better especially since I'm playing at 4k and can do with all the performance I can get :D plus the extra 2GB Vram will help (y)
