Since about a week ago, anyone i talk to when i'm in the car has commented that there's some interference when i talk.

They've said it's no crackly but almost like distortion when you turn the volume up too loud on cheap speakers.

Given it's all built in. Does anyone know the best method for trying to fix this?

It's an Alfa Romeo Giulietta and there are 2 microphones just infront of the rear view mirror.

Can you unplug them form the unit or are they wired in? If you can unplug them, I would grab a mic off amazon and just use that instead. OEM mics will most likely be pricey... Unless you can get those mics for cheap than switch them out.

It would even be good to check if its the mic, if you've a jack port of some sort for the mic.

Not a clue. I suppose i need to work out where the wires connect to. Is it likely to be into the back of the head unit?

The Giulietta has a stupid in car stereo that's all molded into the dash. At the weekend i'll have a bash at pulling it all apart.

I would still be tempted to take it to Alfa as they aren't renowned for their build quality so you may find it gets 'a little bit rattly' after you have put it all back together (if it does indeed go back together).

Other than that I have never owned one so cannot offer any advice on stripping one down sorry.

In most dealer garages they charge at least £100 per hours labour...

Yeah, i don't fancy paying Alfa however much it'd cost. Same with my broken heated seat.

Worst comes to worst i'll buy a bluetooth headset for the car! Plus it's an alfa so might start working again at some point!
