:confused:Spec is 2500+ (or 2600+ cant remmeber! lol ) 512mb ram, 128mb Geforce 4, on a packard bell motorboard.

Im having some problems booting, if i bring it into the house it boots into windows fine. When connected in the car it keeps on freezing and i need to hard reboot.

I try start in safe mode and it seems to stick when loading the system32/drivers/mup.sys

It used to load fine, even in the old spec pc i had in 800mhz duron. Then when that started to stick i thought i would upgrade, however its sticking at exactly the same point.

If this was a power issue, at what point would this crash?

Any other ideas?

Dont be scared off by the in car pc bit, its basically just a pc attached to a touch screen :P

Thanks

Uhm, if you have a GF4 Ti4600 or something in it, it can eat a lot of power :P

mup.sys is probably loading fine - its whatever is loaded next in the chain that is causing the problem - this could be NDIS.SYS... imo you either have corrupt system files, a problem with your NIC (if your using a non-integrated one try removing it and booting) or a problem with an input or USB pheriperal.

It cant be overheating as i havnt enclosed it yet, so getting some nice air to it.

I dont think its touching the car chassis, just laid onto the carpet, will go check now though, you think it could be shorting?

Nope, not touching the chassis or anything, volts seem to be stable so no drop in power. Its really starting to baffle me!

Its running off the battery, new battery & alternator, holding a good charge. Doesnt make any difference with the engine running.

Could it be any other issue with the hardware? Even though it boots fine in doors?

Is it possible to start the PC without turning on the cars ignition?

If not, can you bypass the ignition and wire the PC direct to the battery, or bring the car battery indoors, and see if it powers up ok?

yeah i can start it withiough the car ignition also, just brought the in car PSU in to do a bit of testing to see if thats at fault for making it crash, will keep u updated

Just tried vbooting up using the in car PSU in the house and crashes, so i think its something up with the PSU, gonna RMA it and get it replaced.

Fingers crossed this will solve it!
