In CoD5 multiplayer, do the dogs keep coming for a set time, or are they a set number?

As in, can you kill them off, or do you just have to survive them for a whole minute?

Both I think.

I.E. Either sit it out or kill them first.

Or maybe they get a certain no. of spawns?
