I currently use a pair of Logitech Ultimate Ears headphones with my phone and tablet, but I'm looking for an upgrade for Christmas. While I like the sound quality, the fact that the remote volume buttons don't work (they work on iDevices, I run Android) really bugs me. The problem is I know next to nothing about headphones or what's good, so hoping for some advice from the experts.

Listening Usage:
Music from a Galaxy S6 (when walking to shops, etc.)
Netflix from a first gen Nexus 7 (in the evening)
Not used with PC at all - have HyperX Cloud for that
I don't run, exercise, belong to a gym or anything like that

Preferences:
In-ear rather than clipped on or full-on headphones
Definitely want remote control that will allow me to start/stop music and change volume on Android

I'm looking at a budget of £50-£100 and was looking at the Sennheiser M2IEG for £90. While I'm no audiophile (riding motorbikes for too many years before starting use earplugs saw to that) but I also hate spending money without knowing I couldn't have got a better option. Does anyone have any suggestions that would be better than the Sennheisers for same/less money?

Cheers.

I imported a pair of JLab Epic Bluetooth earphones which sound superb and have volume controls, start and stopping music, Google Now control etc.

I ended up buying the Sennheiser M2IEG headphones (should have updated the thread - oops). Very, very happy with them. Controls work perfectly on my Galaxy S6, and the sound quality is excellent in my opinion. I've never tried really expensive equipment and most of my headphones before have been <£30, so don't have much to compare to but if I lost my Sennheiser's tomorrow I would happily buy the same again to replace them. £90 is a lot of money, but to me they're worth it for the audio quality.

Amazon reviews aren't great for them, Stu.

Looks poor for what is not a cheap Sennheiser product. lot of complaints about the cable breaking.

Not had any issues with mine, caught them on things a about half a dozen times and had them pulled out of my ears, but no sign of damage yet to cable or any connections. Use them at least five or six hours a week and got them for Christmas last year. Maybe others treat their equipment rougher than I do, or I've just been lucky so far?

Like I said, I know it's a lot of money, and I don't have many others to compare to, but I've personally been very happy with them (even considering the cost).

Good luck with whatever you decide to go for, String. :)

Just read through a few of the reviews on Amazon and it does look like I'm probably just more gentle than others with the headphones. When I use any headphones them with my phone I angle the connector to point straight out of my pocket, and using them with my tablet the cable just hangs freely - I never force any cable to turn tight angles or anything that would stress a cable (headphone or otherwise).

One review comments how difficult it is to put the cable back onto the plastic holder it came on, and he ended up catching it on something and breaking the cable as a result. I assumed that was just to showcase it in the box on the shelf, I've never tried putting it back on. I just wrap the cable round three of my fingers, then pop it back into the approx. 2 inch square fabric box it came with, then zip up the outsides of the box.

I guess it's just a difference of attitude - I've always taken care of stuff, especially electronics, but others are commenting that for this price they'd expect it to be able to survive rough handling.

Just enjoy your purchase, some people are just too rough with what is a quite fragile device (IEMs in general).

Oops. Sorry no volume, shows how much I adjust the levels once it's gone into my pocket..

I'll go back to my beer..
