In Ear Headphones

You have already said your bit above, why come back and say another peeps input is rubbish, you are as bad as the abuser above, I left it open so he would come back with something dumb like even Audiophiles need portable music sometimes as I knew he would say something, you two are not helping anyone esp the OP, you obv are Sony fanboys anyhow.

I personally think Sony are total crap since they were a good brand in the 70's/80's but I dont come here and slate your post, I simply left my comment.
lol im a sony fanboy. nice one

for the record, the ex71's that people seem to think are so good are DIABOLICAL but im a sony fanboy, surely i shouldnt be saying things like that?
you two dont seem to be able to grasp this is not your thread to debate what is best, the OP asked for comments, now you simply tell him in your opinion what is best and thats it unless he comes back with questions like are they light and comfortable, do they have good bass etc, you dont pick through othere peeps input and talk crap about it or them

 the op will want an informed desicision, not a plain list of earphones that he cant do anything with. this is a discussion forum, not a listathon.

Like Mr. Vegitarian said, check out headfi. they are very good at sifting out the crap over there:)

wow i didnt check the post for a day and look what happens lol :P its annoying how most places have the phones in the packets so you cant hear them :(
thank for the models mentioned i shall go and have a look

I have the Sony Fontopia in ear earphones, I use them with my pc and they produce very nice sounds.

I've used Creative EP630s for almost a year, I've owned 2 pairs, lost the first set.

I think the best thing is to go into a shop and actually try some out, rather than reading the many conflicting reports and reviews all over the web.

Here's what I think of the EP630s:
- Good value for what they are
- Can be overly bassy (not a clear bass, quite booming, good for dance music)
- Top treble is a bit crackly
- Great insulation, good for public transport, but if you touch the cable or it brushes on your clothes when you're moving / walking / running, you will get booming interference, like being underwater and hearing a distant thumping drum. So basically it's only nice to listen to when you're sitting still...
- Headphone cable is good, Y-shaped, straight connector, good cable length

I want an upgrade soon, but I have absolutely no idea what to go for... I like the sound shape of the EP-630's (quite bassy) but I hate the interference I get as I walk around with these quite a lot.

As I keep saying Sony EX85/90... they sit in your ears so you dont get any booming while walking about unlike Sen CX300, creative 630's and sony EX71's which sit in earcup and transfer all noise of cables.

Ah - are these the noise cancelling ones they bundle with their USB players? I've tried these and really didn't like them, fairly well balanced sound but I didn't like the noise cancelling effect, felt unnatural to me.

I can't find them in any online shops though? Well, at least no shops that I would feel confident buying from.

I had a good look round and I've decided to go for a pair of super.fi 5Pro phones, they're pretty expensive at about £125 (almost as much as my sennheiser hifi headphones) but they seem to be very well rated across every review site I've read so far, the only criticism being the quality of the cable, but at that price I'll be taking care of em.

waste of money, its an mp3 player for gods sake, get some £10 to £30 earphones and be done with it.

I gave my mum a £20 mp3 player as a pressy recenly - gave her my old pair of sony earphones costing nearly £20 - few days later let her try my Sony EX90s (£60) and she was stagered at the differance - she nabbed them off me for a bit as she could not go back the the £20 headphones!

Even my UM2s (£150) make as much a differeance between free earphones to EX90s... as EX90's to the UM2's. Rememeber this testing was on a cheep £20 mp3 player!

The UM2's are brilliant earphones, I went from shure E2c's to UM1s to UM2s and I don't think I'd ever go back now. makes that 20 minutes on the tube every morning bearable...

If you want to replace the cable on your UE's there is a company called Handheld Audio who are the official UK distributors for UE, they sell replacement cables and other bits too, a google search will throw up their contact info.

Just go for it, double your budget and get some Bang & Olufsen A8 Earphones, i use some with the old iPod and they're nothing short of incredible :D

Well I received my Ultimate Ears super.fi 5Pro's today - and I'm gutted, they appear to be broken, a bit of distortion in the treble and medium and high volumes - not major, but easily enough to give me a headache after 5 mins listening.

Fortunately the supplier I bought from has a very easy to follow and generous automatic returns policy, so it's no problem returning them.

So back to the drawing board... I'll have a hunt for these EX85's / EX90's, but unless I can find a decent supplier, I'm going to opt for the Shure E2Cs.

Yeah I've gone for the Shure E2Cs from them. After all they have a good returns policy. Hopefully here tomorrow.

Use the Black earbuds for them, either the medium size or the large ones as the small size has crap bass in my experience.

The clear coloured earbuds also sound crap and are pretty uncomfortable.

(You'll know what I mean when you get them)

Then again this may be a matter of opinion I just thought the headphones were a waste till I used the medium black attachments.
