Right, this is driving me nuts now. :(

Any game I try to play my pc just completely freezes solid and I have to power it off to restart it.

I have ran intel burnt test and removed my OC on my 2500k to and that runs stable.

Furmark on the GPU and that runs stable, max temps of 82 which is way higher than it used to be but my room temperature is also a lot hotter. (Only been playing battle war inc and mw3 aswell so wouldn't be 100% load I doubt anyway)

Windows memory diagnostic ran and no problems were found, it runs Windows 7 64 bit fine but as soon as I run a game it will just lock after about 5-10 minutes.

Any ideas? Up to date drivers are installed for the 6970, It runs furmark fine which is why i'm slightly confused.

PSU is a Coolermaster 850 watt gold efficiency.

Any help would be great. :D

Cores are between 58-60 degrees when stressed.

I haven't opened the case for a month or so and can't see it being bent pins tbh, may try reseated the cpu anyway though and new thermal paste.

That's the build so it isn't air flow. Just want to play something for longer than 10 minutes, gr. I haven't got any discs to burn to try memtest, nore do I have a spare gpu or know anyone with one. :( May try reseating the ram also.

Ive always found memory is the most common reason for problems. How many sticks are you using? can you try 1 at a time and see how it goes. Where about are you located? if you are close i have a spare gpu lol

Gloucester, no way near Liverpool :D But cheers. I have 2x4gb of vengeance LP. I just reseated them and swapped them around, same problem, going to give it a try with single stick tomorrow to see if that shows anything, I know if I start playing around with it i'll be way to tired for work in the morning. :D

Now i'm really annoyed at not picking a mb with onboard gpu support as it would now be handy.

Event 41 Kernel-power: system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Classed as 'Critical' in the event viewer, 6 in the last 24 hours, poop!

Sounds very much like a TDR, which a lot of users seem to get plagued with these days.

Common faults can be :

PSU not providing consistent power on 12V rail. Only way to check this is to look up the specs of your psu and see if they meet the requirement of your card.
Memory Faulty - a good way to test is to run Prime on blend, IBT, and Super PI at the same time with CPU at stock. Memory usage should peak at 98% for 10 mins but remain stable. Also run Memtest with one stick at a time in each slot.
Unstable overclock on CPU - Do the standard stuff you do for this.
GPU faulty - need to determine stock manufacturer speeds for your card and run several benches - Heaven and the beach one unigine do (on loop for a good hour) are good for this. I don't use furmark but I know CEX use it to test for faulty cards when lads bring them in for exchange. You could also run 3D Mark.

Over heating doesn't seem to be a problem in the rig, well built rig by the look of it.

Dodgy driver installation can cause it, but I'm not that experienced in team red drivers. Every time I've researched one of these its been on a green rig.

Google timeout detection and recovery errors, there's a host of information out there you can use to fault find.

Is this just a complete black out? Is psu a modular? Is so can you try different pci ex cables? I have a psu that will blackout if I uses the two built into psu cables, when I use two out of the box I not had the issue since.

well my psu is not modular and i have a total of 3 PCI-E , 2 of those are 8Pin (6+2) the other is just a 6Pin...in the video card i have 1x6Pin and 1x6+2 connector ....also when i try to play any game i cant hear the video card's fan kick in

Yeah mine is modular, it's been running fine for a month or two. Will try everything mentioned tonight, cheers for all the options I was a little lost as what to try next.

1 stick makes no difference (for both), updated mobo bios seemed to be better but then it frozze, boot up takes a lot longer on the new bios to.

Lets try some older drivers now.

Not yet, just played a couple of games on cod and no freezes, might be solved! Problem is i'm moving house Friday so my 'desk' is now on my floor and it hurts my neck to play lying down with my head up. :D
