Recently RMA'd a new '2021' Corsair RM850x unit for extreme idle coil whine and now searching for a new unit preferably 750W and silent would be key.

So... any recommendations folks?

EVGA 750W Bronze BQ if you want to cheap out, currently £ 66.75 free delivery at a major online store. I’ve got one and can’t hear any fan noise but then I’m not overly sensitive to noise as long as it’s within reason.

You probably want something more expensive/better so I’ll leave that to other contributors.

I just got a Corsair RM750X and you've got me worried now! It's the latest revision as well. I also didn't realise that it was only the "i" version which allowed you to monitor and control the fan etc.

Could be just a one-off, this is a first in 20+ years have i had a PSU whinge on me.

On another note, i think Corsair made the cables far to stiff this time.

I own this and i don't hear it running at all.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £123.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Was thinking about the re-branded Phanteks AMP that's a few quid cheaper?

Found the 2018 RM750x going for under £100, might be swayed. My daughters build has the RM650x which i believe to this day are the best units Corsair has put out.

Yes hopefully just a one off! I had an RM750i in my previous build which replaced a failed Thermaltake and it worked perfect. I really liked the digital monitoring and fan control as well. It's going into my son's new build.

Yeah that would be another good option i see them getting recommended a lot on here.

The new ADATA XPG Core Reactor 750W would be a good buy. These psu's have been getting excellent reviews and there are quite a few deals on (especially the 650w version). They are fully modular, Gold rated and have a 10 year warranty. If you can get away with the 650w version it's less than £60 at several outlets at the moment otherwise the 750w can be had for £97.

Yes but there are couple of drawbacks so best to check out some reviews.

Going ahead with the Corsair RM750x and in-stock locally to pick up, at least any issues can take back and not wait weeks for RMA and refunds.

Disappointed with the new refresh as the cables are even thicker now and harder to cable manage, also after reading feedback via other forums it seems i'm not alone on issues of QC with the latest refresh.

Isn't that because they've gone to 16AWG vs 18AWG?

Yeh, don’t get me wrong but great quality cables but a nightmare to bend, got a bit worried on the 24-pin putting pressure on the socket.

Going with original plan and going to order the 2018 RM750x and Type 4 cable kit. Not overall impressed with the refresh.

I mind seeing a post about the refresh on here but I can't remember what it was that made me go for it, in fact I think you were in the thread lol Something about better airflow and an upgraded fan I think but I can't remember for sure.

May have been.

From what i can see, it's a shell design change. The refreshed RM850x is now roughly the size of the 2018 RM650x... so more compact.

Cables upgraded and definitely thicker and much tougher.

Fan has been replaced with an ML version, in my opinion this is more about lifespan than noise reduction.

There is some discussion on other forums regarding the 'triangular' design change causing airflow issues. This maybe true as mine did have some weird noise when the fan kicked in... but i mainly believe my unit suffered from poor QC?

Won't be getting a swap and have found a 2018 RM750x below £100 which is more than enough for my needs. The extra saved will be spent on the Corsair Type 4 cable kit, something I've been planning on for awhile.

Yeah I would have recommended the 750W which was just under £ 70 inc delivery at one supplier recently but they are out of stock now.

Just checked that supplier, they've completely removed the 750W from their site, the 650W is still for sale. Looks like they were selling them at such a low price to clear.
