hi folks,

I have just built a new pc and have returned to pc gaming after a short break. I am looking to get a new game to play while I wait for MW2, diablo 2 etc

I play cod4 online and Dow2 offline but am looking for another ofline game

My list of gamesi can think of that i haven't yet played are;
Mass effect
grand theft auto 4
cod waw
There are a few driving games like grid, dirt etc but I don't have a wheel or joypad
hawx
farcry 2

The last game I bought before I stopped playing was either mirrors edge or dow2 (which ever came out later) and I haven't kept up with releases since then. Out of the list above what would you recommend or are there any decent games out that aren't on the list.

My pc is an i7, sli gtx275 system so should be able to run most games.

Ta

Matt

Edit that should be diablo 3 but my stupid phone won't let me scroll up to change it!

Far Cry 2 is a "you either kind of enjoy it or hate it" kind of title. Visually it can be stunning but the gameplay is a bit boring (you're given a huge environment to play around in but you need to make your own fun to enjoy it if you know what I mean).

Have you played bioshock?? A game I'd really recommend mainly due to its solid storyline

Oh yes definately Bioshock

Far Cry 2, though visually stunning, was utterly boring tripe. Blowing stuff up and shootin does actually get old in this game

CoD4 has too much lamers ''omg haxxor/wallhacker/martyrnoob/etc''...
CoD: WaW I have not once been flamed at for playing well or even kicked like in CoD4. Nobody finds it odd some people have 50 kills 15 deaths or so while in CoD4 I get accused of cheating constantly, it simply pee'd me off too much. Besides, I like WW2 weapons more ( but I like CoD4 maps more).

Though WaW sp is a bit rubbish imo, CoD4 kept me on the edge of my seat all the time, while WaW didn't keep me interested enough to finish the story mode.

I'm yet to finish the CoD: WaW single player, as I'm finding it very dull.

The multiplayer is very good, it's well balanced and seems to have a more mature base then the CoD4 fan base.

CoD4, has some brilliant maps, and a quite fantastic single player, that is very well paced but also far too short.

Grand Theft Auto 4 is fantastic imo, it's one of the best games I've played. The main story arch is very good fun to play through and feels rewarding and emotive. Not to mention the game world, which is nothing short of jaw-dropping. The level of detail and effort is out standing.

Mass Effect, is a brilliant science fiction rpg, that I enjoyed a lot on the xbox 360. Good game.

Far Cry, is frustrating, while it looks and runs very well, it's very repetitive and frustrating. It has been very hit and miss with the members of this forum, myself included.

I'd really really suggest buying the xbox 360 wire pad for the PC, GTA4 becomes a much better and more enjoyable game with one, as does the racing games you mentioned.

If you've not played Crysis / Bioshock, give them a go, the latter is a very good game.

Team Fortress 2 is a great online game, as is Left 4 Dead (however Left 4 Dead 2 has been announced)

Empire total war is good fun, if you enjoy those types of games.
