I'm pretty sure my current Corsair tx650w PSU has fried and I am in need of a new one. The problem at the moment is that corsairs customer service is absolutely terrible and I am thinking of skipping the RMA (going to cost around £30-£40 postage anyway) and buying a different PSU. At the moment I am just looking for suggestions as to what to buy, Ideally I could do with not really spending a vast amount but I know that you shouldn't skimp on buying a PSU. Could ideally do with around the £60-£80 area as I have bill to pay at the moment too. Any help would be greatly appreciated peepz.
My current build is as follows;

CPU - Intel core i7 950 3.06ghz (bloomfield)
Motherboard - Gigabyte X58A-UD3R rev:2
Power Supply Unit - Corsair TX 650w PSU
RAM - 6GB XMS3 Corsair (3x2GB) DDR3 12800C9 1600mhz Tripple Channel
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200,12 1TB Sata-II 32mb Cache
Graphics Card - OcUK Value Geforce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-E
Sound Card - Realtek HD audio
Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Cheers for the quick response, Don't suppose you know of any a tiny bit cheaper. I know thats the price range I asked for but just curious hehe. been googling for hours and not sure which PSU's will pack up after a few months n which ones will last the distance.

Was just going to say that the GTX 480 is really power hungry. So not sure a 550w will surfice. Cheers for the help so far btw peepz. Ideally got to be looking for around a 650-750w PSU I think but also with 4 x molex connectors for the fans.

You be ok if you don't run Furmark & Prime together.

My old i7 920 system with a 480 and the cpu overclocked to 4ghz got upto 600w from the wall with Furmark and Prime running together. But this is extreme and no software pushes the GPU limits like Furmark.

Guess it's time to check the bank and do some calculating. Btw do you guys think I should try the corsair RMA option as its cheaper ? basically getting another TX650w Back ? or ?? All I have read about corsair so far has seriously put me right off doing the RMA, there forums are scattered with people waiting up to a month for a PSU back.

i rmad ram with corsair aswel mate, but it didnt take that long, they were pretty quick actually considering it went to netherlands and sent it back to me with courier service!

Okey Dokey, thanks for all the info. I think I might just RMA my current Corsair PSU. Mainly due to the cost difference and also Corsair do at least have decent products, without a doubt. Just not too keen on the wait time but I'll have to wait & see how it goes I guess. Just checked and my RMA has been accepted finally so I will send it 2moro and cross my fingers. Thanks all for the help, greatly appreciated.

if its going netherlands send it with dpd or something as it will get there quicker, and tell corsair how fast you need the replacement as you use your pc for buisness and cant do much without it :D

Corsair have a toll free skype number (+1888-222-4346) which you can phone for free if you have skype. If you go through to customer services they will likely create you a shipping label and arrange to pick up your power supply free of charge (they've done this three times with me in the past). Give it a try, you've got nothing to lose? :p

Ahh thanks I'll give that a try. Anything to save a few quid hehe. Was just browsing net for alternative PSU's also. Stumbled across an XFX Pro 850W Core Edition PSU for £84 from an Ebay shop but would rather not spend that much just in case my mobo is fried too. Xmas has been brill this year lol. Had 1 monitor blow up a few weeks ago, 1 TV and my PC :S just really hope once I get a new PSU it switches back on or this is gona end up being really expensive.

I'm not sure if I can get a refund I'll be ringing corsair over Skype on Monday and I'm going to see if I can twist there arm into giving me a HX850 instead. Seeing as I've lost money over x-mas due to not being able to work (all down to the PSU) Just have to see what happens I guess.
The TX650 is showing up at $120 on corsair website and the HX850 is $170, $50 is only around £30 surely that's not too much to ask from such a large company that I have spent a fair few thousand with over the years. Cheers for the help yet again anyway people & I'll leave a post on here letting people know how I got on (fingers crossed)

Cheers
Rob
