Hi,
I recently bought a Corsair 600T White, and now looking for advice and components for my first real build. Will be air cooled as the stock fans of the 600t seem to preform well, but WC'ing may be a venture in the future.

Really I'm just looking for general advice on what's good and what's not, and possible build to fit the budget of around £600-£750 at a push.

I already have:

  • Corsair 600T White
  • Disc drive which I am happy to keep
  • 500GB 7200RPM HD (Which I may keep for now considering current HD prices.))
  • 80GB Ancient IDE drive which is only used for music storage (Likely to scrap)
  • XFX HD5750 XXX 1GB (Planning on buying another for Xfire or to sell)
  • i3-530 @ 2.93 (Socket 1156)Which I will attempt to sell with mobo and old case for extra funds
  • Asus P7H55 M SI See above ^
  • 4GB 2133Mhz RAM (Stock RAM )
  • Old Mesh Nero case, Either scrap or sell with mobo and CPU
  • Unbranded (cheap and nasty) 550W PSU (Need to replace as crappy quality is crappy)
  • LG W2253TQ 24" Will keep as main display

So the plan is to go with something like the i5-2500K, I see OCUK has some OC'D bundles with mobos and coolers etc. which I may look into. As for RAM either buy 4GB more of my current or buy a different set and get 8GB of new stuff.

As for the mobo I'd like 2 PCI-E x16 for two cards (possibly from the HD6*** series), may get sound a card eventually so would like that possibilty.
USB3 and 6Gbit SATA but I guess most new boards have this as standard.

Considering a small SSD for boot drive etc.
Will either get another of the HD i have now and stripe them or buy a 1Tb one from somewhere once the prices go back down (hopefully)

May attempt to scrape back some money from my current build, (£200 would be nice :P)

So most of all I would like it to be future proof with scope for upgrades in the future. Will keep the new build for 3+ years with some updates to hardware but nothing major ideally, Now the real question can I get all that within £750?

Thanks,
Ben

edit: I already have Win7 on this pc, whether they are transferable is another matter. Either that or something else such as linux or whatever is the alternates.

unless you plan on buying tonight come back tomorrow as new 'this weekonly' offers will be 'put up'.

the ide drive wouldn't work without an adapter as new mbs don't have ide connectors, are the 500gb hdd and optical drives sata?

do you have win7 already?

as ou don't need hdds you'll get quite a good spec for £750, gpu can you wait a couple of months? new 7xxx series due out soon.

you posted as I was typing, but as I said unless buying tonight your spec is redundent gpu, mb, ram will all go up in price tomorrow.

and sli when you've speced a ati card? ;p

the asus 6950 is not suitable for crossfire due to the triple cooler, 850w not needed 750 is enough.
