I'm currently using a Gainward nVidia 9400GT, 1MB DDR2 card. I'm looking around for an improvement and I have a budget of about £100.

I gather the card has to be DDR2, since I'm running XP SP3, my RAM is DDR2 and I want as much graphics memory as possible.

Can anyone suggest a candidate, preferably not ATi?

The motherboard and power supply are both Dell Dimension 9150 standard.

Help please?

Further info: CPU is Pentium 4 3.2GHz single core
PSU: 375watt
Also, I know from experience that ATi cards have issues with my main use of the card. Sorry to those who are using ATi cards for other games, this is a real issue with this outfit. nVidia cards work, end of story.

Graphics memory has no bearing on the rest of the system. Modern cards these days are GDDR5. What's your CPU?

For around £100, the best card at the moment is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 768mb, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-000-PL&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1830

However, bear in mind it needs two PCI-E power connections from the PSU, so it may not be suitable for your system.

Knowing Dell and judging from your current set-up, I think they most likely given you something like a 300W/350W generic PSU...so the chances are you would need to upgrading the PSU if you are going to upgrade to any half decent gaming cards.

A 5770 is a good low power card. The OP stated he doesn't want ATi, but there's nothing wrong with ATi IMO.

Another possibility is the gtx 450..... but I have no idea, about performance, or power requirements.

As it stands if its low power you need, then probably your best served with a 5770.
