Hi,

I'm looking for an RTS game along the lines of maybe Caesar 3. I had a look at Anno 1701 i think it's called? But the lack of micro management (building houses, progressing through the stone/iron age and so on) put me off it a little bit.

I'm just looking for a game where the trade and diplomacy features are quite good. I don't mind a few large battles here and there just to keep the enemy away, but i'm not looking for something like C&C :p

If possible the game needs to be set in the past, like Caesar, progressing from stone age upwards.

Cheers.

Civ4? Very good game, has lots of micro management and a bit of trading

I have tried this demo in the past, however i didn't like the way it was laid out. Working your way through a map without units and individual buildings and so on didn't really appeal to me.

Not sure what u mean, It has lots of units and individual buildings

You could go for Caesar IV although it's a serious resource hog and a bit sterile in my opinion. You could also try Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile (also by Tilted Mill) which is a better game in my opinion and is now on budget. If you enjoyed Caesar IV have you tried Pharaoh, Zeus and Emperor? These are all on budget labels and shouldn't cost more than £5/£10. Anno 1701, Anno 1602 and Anno 1503 are all very good games. Not forgetting Tropico too of course (although I'd give Tropico 2 a miss).
