Hi Guys,

I have a system built by OC and yesterday I opened it up and installed a new 1TB HDD.

I was installing windows and during the installation it rebooted in order to complete the setup, however at this point the computer failed to restart.

As the system was failing to reboot, i swapped back to my original HDD and the problem has persisted.

I boot up the computer and i get no display at all...not even post/bios info.

Its as if there is no signal from the DVI on the graphics card. (i have tested the other DVI port, the cable and the monitor and still no luck)

The motherboard (a Sabertooth x58) has power (green light on)

However 2 x motherboard boot lights are staying on. The red LED's are the ones for DRAM and CPU.

At no point did I change or need to touch any of the other parts of the system. cables all appear to be seated correctly.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or know what could be up.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you say you've tested the monitor and cable, how have you tested them? You need to start ruling things out. I'd start by making double sure everything (especially the graphics card) is seated correctly and all cables are full inserted.

Then rule out the monitor cable by swapping it with a known working one. Turn on the suspect monitor without anything connected to it and you should get a test pattern or message of some description, which ought to rule that out.

After that, you're looking at hardware components inside the tower. If you have on-board graphics try hooking that up, which will rule out the graphics card. Try swapping around the RAM modules, checking each stick individually. After that, the only things that will prevent a display will be bad motherboard or cpu, both of which are difficult to test which is why we leave them till last.

hi mate
thanks for replying, i ended up getting it sorted soon after that post. I dont know what caused the problem but i resolved it by simply clearing the BIOS by moving the jumper on the motherboard for a few seconds. (rather than go into the details, i just knew it wasnt hardware... or at least my logic was telling me it wasnt).
Anyway the downside is, i have a 2010 built oc Ultima Black Ops System and i need the original bios settings so i can speed the machine back up to the overclocked settings. I may need to post in a differenet forum to sort - anyway thanks for your help, and any help re BIOS settings would be appreciated!

ps the reason i didnt worry too much about graphics hardware etc was the red lights on the board. There were two, signalling both CPU and RAM. I doubted that both had failed, so i suspected that the only failure could have been the board - thats why i went straight fot the BIOS wipe, expecting no change and a necessity to order a new board. But it fixed it, so yay. lol

Thanks for that. Ive rang them up; they dont hold records from 3 years ago :(

I really hope its as simple as those easy instructions, but I have a feeling that the profile is also lost...

If it is i'm sure we could help you get your OC re-configured manually. The overclocking and cooling section would be a good place to post regarding that.

We know the chip will do 4.0GHz so thats a step in the right direction for starters. :)

lol i darent post anywhere else!

where will i find out how to make it run 4.0GHz? I dont need to push its limit; just the OcUK settings ill be happy with

Thanks
