Seeing as BeQuiet are incapable of building PSU's to there own descriptions it would seem I need a new PSU.

Any suggestions? 1000w preferable.

I am running 2x290 - 4770k and 1 SSD + 1 HDD.

I want to stay away from Corsair as from my experience with them all I have had are PSU's with very high pitched capacitor whine.

:p so much sand in me today.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone Strider Gold Series - 750 Watt (SST-ST75F-GS) £109.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 750W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £99.95
1 x Seasonic G series 750w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £99.95
Total : £323.99 (includes shipping : £11.75).

I believe 750W covers 2 290's I believe.

EDIT: Double belief!!

750w wont cut it and Im not risking it after the shenanigans with this 850 Bequiet.

Decent selection though mate.

Im not fussed about what I spend, I just spent over 2k for the machine so doesnt matter.

However atleast 3 of the parts were faulty unable to bare the load they were designed for etc etc etc etc etc.

That superflower Plat looks lush It may just have to be the one.

Do you mean the 3 pci cables? I think you're jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly tbh. Like I said in the other thread, most power supplies have 2 pci plugs on 1 cable, including that superflower.

Have you ruled out the motherboard/cards themselves? What were you using to test them in crossfire?

I ruled out the cards as they were tested individually for 4 plus hours each various gaming and benches and they were fine.

No idea about the motherboard atm.

Does gaming cause them to crash in crossfire or are they okay in that but crash in benches? Make sure to check the temps as obviously they'll be running hotter in crossfire.

Also switch them around, put card #1 in the other slot and vice versa, try as many of the different pci slots as possible.

It'd be worthwhile to check the windows event logs as well.

I tried all the slots,

Ive been checking the logs the whole time to monitor display crashes when ive been afk.

I just had a display crash on one card.

This is new..........as I tested them for a whole day individually to rule out card problems and had no issue. But now? I ve had 2 crashes so far running one SINGLE card.

By the way they crash in crossfire all the time as soon as I start to play a game and they go from idle to load.

When there not in crossfire and I run one card at a time there is no issue or full screen artifacts but just now I had a crash running single card so dont even know about that anymore.

Seems more and more like a PSU issue.

Here's an idea. Put them in crossfire and load up a game where you can limit the fps (or just use vsync) Set all the settings to low and lower the resolution so that the cards are not being stressed much. If it still crashes there's no way its the psu, it it does then its more likely to be the psu but not guaranteed.

Try the one card that's crashed with 2 separate power cables. If there's still problems then its very unlikely to be the psu. A single 290 won't be stressing it at all.

I will try all that when I'm home bud really appreciate your help right now.

If the Psu was failing and it's load ceiling becoming lower and lower a single card could have issues couldn't it. It's just my theory . Lol.

Will ttry everything when I'm home.

The cards even crashed at desktop by the way not just in games so hmm.

If they crashed at desktop I'd be looking more to the gpu or drivers rather than the psu. Chances of its load ceiling becoming lower is not very high.. but its a nice theory :p

Generally if a new power supply is faulty it will simply refuse to turn on/blow up. The internal parts etc are still new and they don't really fail or lose capacity until after some years of use.

Well Ive tried every driver I can including beta drivers.and no bueno.

I did a bios flash on the mobo to see if that helped and also no bueno but!!! It allowed my ram to run at 2933mhz which it had a few issues with prior and this bios patched.

I pushed the 2 cards to hell and back individually so apart from the mobo maybe having issues or the PSU im confuzzled.

I tried a little bit of messing around with Vsync and there was no issues with the cards individually so far.

The crash I had earlier was the only one when running in single card mode so far.

Thanks again for all your advice bud I really appreciate it, everyone else has got sick of me haha.
