in need of some 5" component speakers

as title, budget is £150, ive seen and listened to some planet audio 5" for £160 and they sound very good, but are there any other options?

i dont no what good makes of speakers there are so im totally lost when browsing for them.

car is a 07 ford focus titanium, i think they are 5" speakers in the front.

If you can, try and fabricate or buy some MDF spacer rings/adapter plates to accommodate 6.5" units - the mid and bass from this size is much better (imo) and you have a lot more choice as this is a more common size.

As for brands, look at Rainbow, Diamond, JL Audio for higher end decent quality stuff. I've also used Pioneer and JBL before and they have been perfectly fine for the money.

Are these being run off the stock headunit?

Focal Polykevlar is what I used to run and they sounded very detailed to my ears. Great vocals from them, symbals etc. clear as a bell. Not so warm in the midbass area but my sub crossed over fairly high.

ok shall have a look for them makes, what am i looking for when i find some speakers? just big numbers or?

im getting a 400w amp to power a sub and the front speakers for which im now looking for. head unit is an alpine something or other( i know its ot ipod full speed) which im transfering to the car this is all going in.
