In need of some friendly CPU advice!

Hey guys, just looking for a quick answer really!

At the moment I am using a https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-372-AS and I'm looking to get a new processor.
I was going to buy a https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-192-IN but then a friend told me I would be better off investing in a Quadcore. Now I'm looking at the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-281-IN

Is this a good choice? Firstly I need to know if it would even work in my motherboard (I'm new to the whole processor upgrading thing!), and secondly I need to know if it really is worth investing in Quadcore. I remember a while back people saying Dualcores are better optimised for games and such, but I have no idea what it's like now.

Thanks for the reply! I think I will go for the quad then.
I hear Bad Company 2 performs much better on quads than duals, and I'm really itching to play that next week, hehe!

A prime example of the newer games, bad company 2 supports DX11 and is quad core optimised. Enjoy
