I was thinking whilst browsing the iTunes music store, do you think in the future MP3 players will be able to connect wirelessly to a universal music database. Think about it, rather than owning the songs, you could play them wirelessly from a gigantic song bank, paying a monthly or subscription charge.

Sure, it would remove the personality of music collections, but tbh I always pick up either CDs or Records of my favourite albums anyway.

Thinking about it though, navigating your way through all those songs could be a mission :D

That, and the ammount of lag you would probably get trying to stream the music to your mp3 device :p

I think it's a terrible idea, and I believe a few companies do (such as the new Napster) offer subscription services for music. If you don't continue paying it then you lose the ability to access the music. I'd much prefer to purchase songs and not have to pay any more to listen to them. At the moment most of these services have rather low quality audio too, which doesn't help.
