looking into getting 1440p 144hz GSync or compatible monitor to replace my 4K Samsung 60hz as I have seen 144hz in action and just can’t go back to 60.
I have a budget of £350 to £400 and have been looking at the dell s2716dg and s2719dgf.

Anyone have any recommendations for me.

I have the Dell S2716DG and think its a brilliant monitor, the colours need adjusting out of the box or they look a little dull. I see you have an Nvidia GPU so might as well pay the little extra for the Gsync version

No reason to chain yourself to be Nvidia's slave.
AMD should bring out completely new GPU architecture in next winter and also Intel is joining discrete GPU game next year.
So in two years GPU situation can be completely different.
Also Nvidia has removed that completely artificial disable AdaptiveSync bit from their drivers.

There are VA panels for that price.
Though with marketroids' arses sitting on everything they just don't seem to be able to do straight monitors anymore...

Even 32" is available for that price.

Twisted Nematics crap just doesn't have any viewing angle with brightness/colour differing between bottom and top of image even when viewed straight from center:
