... I was very surprised to see that my OcUK order for 2 systems, a additional case, a monitor and some bits and bobs came to over £35 before the VAT! (That was the cheapest of all the postage options)

I'd assumed that the postage price would level out after a certain amount of items.

Is this sort of cost representative of most 'larger' orders of OCuK or was I just unlucky with some parts that needed to be shipped in from elsewhere? (All were in stock). Ref it was about £1800 worth of bits.

Cheers

For that amount of spending, I would think that postage should be free. If for no rason other than to say thank you for spending all your money with us :)

Free postage is almost always paid for in general cost of the goods though (and if the company isn't extremely careful they can lose money on a lot of orders).

As for the postage costs for large orders, iirc it's done by a combination of weight, package size and value (i'm not a an ocuk employee), and from what i've noticed in the past 3+ large items (cases/monitors) tends to move it up quite a bit, enough so that splitting it into two orders significantly reduces delivery in some cases.

ooo i`m going to be making a big ( for me) order i hadn`t allowed for postage to be anyting like that much better go to the checkout and see how bad thats gonna be :(

However most free postage usual means 3-5 days delivery, I always op for the free postage though as I dont mind waiting the few extra days :)

Exactly peeps. If there was a "1 week cheap postage option" then we would have selected it. Just leaves a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth tbh.

tbh I hate it when I order something and it says free delivery, then when you get to the checkout they try to sneak in a delivery charge for you to get it quicker, then because you went for the free option they leave it sitting in the warehouse for 5 days and send it out the same service if you pay anyway.

I'd rather go with OcUK where ok they charge you but you normally get your stuff very fast, and any problems you might have you can always rely on OcUK to sort it out.
