my friend has an IN9 32x max bobo but when try to boot get FF error on board which is boot attempt, then it switches itself off after a few seconds.

cant get into bios, any ideas?

FF isn't an error code it's more of a status indicator & is usually a good sign.

From what you have said (& could use more info) it sounds like the CPU could be overheating & shutting down the system - the Intel stock hs retention system is imo a poor design & it's not uncommon for people not to have it installed properly which leads to rapid overheating.

Check that nothing is shorting. You could take everything out of the case to rule that out. But as above, need the full list of specs.

Also that board is particularly fussy about memory. What RAM is installed? The board tends to default to 1.85v which is not enough for some modules to operate.

been round to look at it today took everything out of the case it is now now longer shuting down after i refitted his tuniq tower HS/fan, but just stays on FF, he is using 4x1gb ballistix pc8500, i have tried it with just 1 stick in and still hold on FF. will not let me into the bios to change voltage

not sure which supply it is will check tomorow think it was 650watt and a good brand.

It has been working fine for a few months, then he started getting blue screen, then would just not start windows so he tried to format it and halfway through format it crashed out now it wont boot.

FF means that it has run through all it's self checks & is looking for something to boot from (or indeed has already booted from as it will often remain on that code once into an OS).

As for getting into the BIOS is he using an USB keyboard perhaps (the default is often USB support by OS rather than by BIOS)?
