The first I heard of this story two gun shots had been heard (which has now been denied by police), authorities have been tight lipped so you don't really know what's rumours. According to some articles neighbours reported seeing some of the other children being removed from the house in bandages which would be unusual for poisoning? but again it's perhaps hearsay? why so much secrecy?

"Up to 15 police cars, two riot vans and four ambulances descended on the home,"

FFS, what was going on there, a full-on ISIS invasion or something. what a joke. 17 cop vehicles around one house.

i was coming out of a nightclub once and there were 22 police vehicles parked around to arrest one very angry woman... lol It looked almost gladiatorial in nature.

Oddly enough the police tend to send quite a few people to murder scenes, even more if it's multiple murder and attempted murder.

They don't know what's going on initially so they'll send everything they think they might need, and then likely end up doing a load of initial witness/background reports from the neighbours etc before their information becomes too tainted by rumours and hearsay.

how many murderers do they think were in that house?

They probably didn't know what they were up against, what would you have them do - send 1 squad car?

And like Werewolf said they then need lots of personnel on site to canvas nearby houses to see if they saw or heard anything whilst it's fresh in their minds.

2 murders and 3 attempted murders. Your entire post was crass, regardless of how many murders there were. A murder requires as many police, forensic and support personnel on the scene as fast as possible.
no it doesn't, it requires an APPROPRIATE response. if they'd had the whole of Al Qaeda in that house, maybe that would have justified 17 vehicles. appreciate your virtue signalling as to how concerned you are etc, but there was NOTHING about that incident that would warrant that sort of a response.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, you've got no idea what the initial reports contained.

It begs the question though if it was a poisoning who tipped the police off? were the mum and brother playing innocent and pretending it was a Novichok poisoning or something?

The original report could have been for gunshots, someone also reported children were involved. Would the response have been too much if it turned out to have been a gang thing with many people involved and multiple weapon weilding people to arrest/subdue?

 When there are not enough police people bang on about them not doing their proper job and being too busy policing the internet and when there are enough people bang on about wasted effort.

If another incident happened at the same time, it isn't like they couldn't allocate some police cars on scene to go to the other incident...
