Inclination of possible car theft...

Another fun subject for my cul-de-sac.

One of the families across the road from my house is a council house (in fact the whole row across from mine are council housing) and the guy who lives there is in his early twenties and owns an old merc thing which he is always charging the battery up on (I assume this is what hes doing as he always has a second car bonnet to bonnet and sits there revving for parts of the day). He then aquired some sort of battered rally car which has sat on his drive for around half a year with tarpaulin on it and spare tyres to keep the tarpaulin flying off. Fair enough.

Then he gets another car (not sure of the make) which I presume is his wife/girlfriends as she seems to be the one driving it all the time. THEN very recently they aquire a smart car. Now im not saying anything necessarily bad about smart cars but frankly the type of guy he is (usually blasting rap music out of his car, typical eminem wannabe kind of bloke) would suggest he doesn't own this or would never want to be seen driving it. It could be his partners but shes already got one.

This car has sat outside his house for over 3 weeks now so it surely isn't owned by anyone else.

Anyway I caught him and a friend dismantling the thing on the street the other day and while I didn't know what they were doing it did look suspicious. They took the rear bumper off and faffed around with the boot and the arse end of the car, put it back together and then it stayed sitting there.

Tonight he's doing more stuff to it and im not quite sure what the hell is going on. At first I thought perhaps hes stolen it and is doing it up but its a brand new model and is in perfect condition. The other was that he was faffing with the number plates.

Either way im unsure as to what to do with the whole situation.

First and foremostly im annoyed with the constant revving of engines and banging of him using the the street as his own garage. Then theres the blasting music and its now 22:37 and its still going on. This is a frequent occurance. The guy has a small child and he cant even respect that its late and she is probably asleep.

This house in particular doesn't work so their only income I suspect is whatever benefits they manage to scrounge for. The only times I have seen any of them leaving on a regular basis is the bloke going out around midnight and returning about an hour or two later. This cant be a job and at the time of night hes doing this made me suspect hes a dealer of some sort. I have no other reason to believe he could be however so I think thats just me being potentially too quick to blame.

Anyway what can you guys suggest my plan of action is?

Also its worth noting that I have caught another neighbour dealing drugs in the street and ive contacted 101 and they did absolutely nothing about it. Also the last time we were woken at 3am because a house party decided to spill into the street and blast music out of a car we were directed to noise pollution who told us theyd get back to us (at 3 in the bloody morning!) to which they failed to do so.

lol I know it sounds petty but hes causing hell of a racket out there and is generally being bit of a tool.

I dunno perhaps im being a bit too sensitive.

He would have to be incredibly stupid to leave a stolen car outside his house, even more so to clearly be tinkering with it and taking it apart, thus further implicating himself.

Its for those reasons that I think its unlikely he would have stolen it.

you're not being petty about the noise if it's happening now i'm sure we'd all understand if you complain and get something done about that, but it's the way you pick at every thing he does in every possible way

Yea your right chaps... Oh well ill get back to my rocking chair and pipe and find something else to moan about... Like young people perhaps...

It's probably broken, the engine is in the back of a Smart car. To get it, you remove the rear bumper and 'faff around in the boot'

I regularly catch my neighbour hoovering their floor, bet they're stealing carpets. I can hear the hoover going during the day and it annoys me. Think id better call the police on these scumbags.

Most likely a mates car that he's offered to fix for cheap and is doing so in the street for some easy cash?

Sorry to say but it sounds like the guy annoys you, and is the type to annoy. Now you're trying to find a legitimate reason to loathe him other than the noise - which the time (the 22:37 one, not the 3am affair) you mentioned is unenforceable.

The other stuff is circumstantial, but given what you've explained it's you versus the neighbourhood. Either get Equaliser on their behinds or move house. The latter probably being the easiest, and most legal way to deal with your problem. :D

thread delivers lol.. you sound like that old man who used to put a knife through my football if it went in his garden when i was younger.

A bit like setting fire to your house with your 7 kids inside so you can get a bigger one then?

Never underestimate the stupidity of the underclass.
