Hi all,

Recently got a copy of my credit report and have noticed 5 1 month late payments on there that I shouldn't have. 3 of them are for my loan which was the loan company's balls up and 2 are for a phone contract with Orange.

I have called both companies about this. Orange have said, we can't see any late payments from you on our systems and have no idea why they are marked on your report and the loan company say they need to investigate it.

How long should I give them to sort this out? as obviously these 5 un-necessary marks on there are gonna effect my chance of getting credit till removed.

I've asked both comanies to send me confirmation that this has been removed.

Cheers

They dont last forever do they? might be less hassle to just wait til they are wiped (assuming they do get wiped)

Call experian and equifax and submit a query. These get sent to the company who reported the credit and they can manually change it for you.

The info stays on your record for 6 years but as long as your have been a good boy for the past 18months i wouldnt worry about it too much.

Not sure if they last forever but in the next year or two i'd like to get a mortgage! Don't want their stupid mistakes affecting my chances!

And even if I weren't getting a mortgage or any form of credit, i still don't want them on my record.

I called Experian who said i have to contact the company direct and get them to write to Experian.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but:

How would one go about getting oneself a credit report?

I'm not really looking for a mortgage or a loan or anything at the moment, but I'm curious about what my credit rating would be. I'm usually at least 2 weeks late paying my utility bills (purely down to laziness), and I had a couple of missed CC payments 2 years back.

Bah, dont accept Maestro.

£14 to get a credit report from Equifax? For something that totally controls your life thats daylight robbery.

Bad scores or a bad/ missed payment will go on the report and are marked via severity, my gf got into quite a bit of bother without even knowing and now she is having real trouble getting credit, its massively effected her and can stay on up to 6 years. We just did the free trial with experian, sure its only a few quid a month but tbh its a waste of time subscribing anyway as once you have seen your report it rarely even changes, you can tell if someone has viewed it on an ongoing basis, but as for stuff updating it takes forever.

Im trying my best to keep my credit listing clear but im unsure if the address you stay at affects it? Only asking cause my mum had debt years ago and burried her head till my dad gets a shock when some guys turn up at the door. Between them they cleared the debt and have no debt except for a mortgage now.

On the other hand my brother moved out and shared a flat with his mate, late bills.....non payments and all that. His is so bad he cant even get the bank account that i got no bother. :o

So with them two at the same address as me would that skew it somewhat?

This isn't true, credit ratings change all the time providing your circumstances change so unless your credit is and always either excellent or worse (i.e. cant get better or worse) then it will change, mine changes dramatically every few months...

Ok well its just down to personal circumstance then, we subscribed for quite a few months and never ever seen anything change even though the debt was paid in full. I fyou have a bad debt and clear it the report sometimes takes up to 6 months to show the debt as cleared and even then its goign to stay there for ages after that.
