Increase Airflow in Mirage

k guys...give me some ideas to improve the airflow around the CPU and cooler inside an Akasa Eclipse. My CPU temps have gone up rapidly since changing case's last week…so much so that im having to back off bigtime my overclcoked E6600. I have a 120mm Amber installed on the intake, and also pushing out….and one installed on my Scythe Ninja cooler. If I take the case side panel off…the temps drop 5-10C…which means that the CPU and its cooler just isn’t getting enough air. I always had a warm running CPU but in the previous case it was fine…60-65 load on both cores. Since putting into the Mirage…full load on both cores is going way above 70 :mad:

. Any ideas to increase the airflow in this case…please supply me

My temps have gone up big time from using the Antec 900. I have reseated the CPU heatsink three times at the weekend without any temp improvement. I am using Akasa Amber 120mm case fans in and out, and one on the Ninja CPU sink. The problem seems that arround the CPU heatsink is the Silent heatpipe cooling system for the Gigabyte DS4 motherboard. and just below this i have a large 8800 GTX sitting. When you put you hand in this area there is a lot of heat. The Antec 900 had two front 120mm fans and a mahoosive fan just about the CPU area sucking all the heat out...and therefor airflow was far greater. with the Ecplipse you cannot feel very much airflow arround the CPU area...and I think its struggling to remove the heat build up...allowing the temps to rise.

thats the idea...i was trying to find ouit if anyone had done such mods to include more fans where they arent designed to be installed already. I need some ideas :confused:

I to am a little dissapointed with the cooling in the Akasa Mirage. I find that it does struggle to remove the heat around the cpu area. I currently have a panaflo 38mm fan on the intake which seems to push air through a lot better than the 25mm fans so I might get one for the exhaust as well.

thats maybe a good idea...i assume the sizes you mention is the thickness of the 120mm fans. Ideally two 120mm fans in the front of the case would be the way to go...one above the other.

yep...thats what i need...more airflow to the CPU and thats would effectively do just that...might give it a try...blowing in from the back and blowing out from the front. even though hot air rises....it might get the heat away from the affected area.

Just noticed also that my 8800GTX is sitting idle at 62C...which means its also a whole 7C more than it was in the Antec 900....probably about the same rise at least with the CPU! It defo an airflow problem.

When loading the CPU with the side panel off then puting it on...the CPU temps rise 6-7C in the next few minutes!

TBH...i think ive just proved its the airflow. with panel off its 7C less. I'm finding it hard tio feel any major airflow inside the case....and the length of the 8800GTX is probably stopping some of the intake air from getting up towards the CPU area.
The Conroe stock cooler gave even worse temps...I tried that just to make sure the Ninja was doing its job.

reseated 3 times at the weekend...and tried the stock cooler also.

A lot of the Conroes have been reported to run high when overclcoked...and to voltage is adjusted ever so slightly. I think I have one of them. However, in the Antec case I had it running both cores Orthos stable at 3.5Ghz with full load about 65...which is OK. Now..two cores loaded..and backed off to 3.2Ghz..its 70C...its not going to kill it...but its not good eigther. Same setup..different case!

geff_r...I aint here to debait why my CPU temps are high...Im here to get ideas how to improve my case temps. A lot of the Conroe CPU's come with high temps...im reading about more all the time. They are fine at stock...but as soon as you raise the voltage slighly....the temps shoot up.

What i am trying to resolve is why the change of case has given me a temp rise of about 7-10 degrees. To me...the airflow is not very good in this case with my arrangement/setup. When I take the side panel off...then temps go down about 7degrees.....which instatly tells me that the CPU and heatsink isnt getting enough cool air. When I stick my hand beside the CPU cooler...sleint cooling system on the board and RAM...there is a a lot of heat build up...simple as that. The case is fairly tidy..so airflow shouldnt be a problem.

Maybe something like the Kama bay will help

i think the kama bay...or modding the case is required. Ive backed off the CPU to 3.2Gz which keeps the temps mid 60 when gaming etc. so isnt too bad....I just liked it being at 3.5-3.6 all the time. Like said...the Antec was just too small for me and too dusty also. The Eclipse...I love....i just want more air!
