Increasing sound

I recently done an open mike comedy night. My brother took a video using his phone. I have converted to DVD but the audio is very low. It's quite hard to hear the audio even with speakers on high.

Is there anything I could use to increase the volume of the video and burn it again?

What format is the original video in? You could split the audio from the video, boost the audio and then add it back.

Mkvmerge has the option to separate audio/video and join back together (remux).
