Hi,

I know there is already a massive thread about Windows 8 upgrades, but I didn't want this to get lost.

When I first started download Windows 8 upgrade, the estimated time was taking between 6 hours and 23 hours.

I tried pausing and resuming, resetting my router, but that seemed to do nothing.

I didn't want to close the program, thinking I'd need to re-enter information.

I tried downloading something from Steam and the speed was what I expected, so it was definitely the Microsoft downloader.

MS Support was useless, so in the end I just closed and reopened the downloader and low and beyhold; download time 14 mins.

So if you are getting slow download speeds with the Win 8 Upgrade Assistant; close and reopen it. :)

eww, windows 8 :p good luck with it, i tried it and its pants unless you have a tablet capable of running it

well no actually i am simply posting my opinion, if you think my opinion is (****<----oooh a blanked out sweary-lol) then if im honest, tough, im giving my opinion, my opinion is shared by a lot of users.

Or you can just wait a few minutes, mine started at 12+ hours but after about 5 - 10 mins it said downloading in under an hour and that's about what it took on this not so great connection, seems to be a torrent like file and just needs bit of time to get going.

Yep I'm with you all the way - you are entitled to an opinion like anyone else. I have it marked down as Millenium MK2 or Vista MK2 - if you are running a Desktop - unless of course you are just easily pleased. :p
