Hi all,

I have to be the most indecisive person when it comes to upgrading PC's so I turn to you in my hour(s) of need.

I currently have an Asus P5Q Pro mobo, Intel Core 2 duo e8500 (overclocked to 4ghz) and 4gb OCZ Reaper 1066mhz RAM (g-card is Asus HD5850 but not replacing yet).

Is it really worth upgrading this rig at the minute from a gaming perspective? I'm thinking Deus Ex and Battlefield 3 in particular.

I am debating whether or not it will be more beneficial to....

a) buy just an 128gb Crucial M4 as my primary drive

or

b) upgrade entire base to Intel I5 2500k, 8gb of gskill ripjawx ram and asrock extreme4 gen 3.

Obviously I can't currently afford both options. Opinions needed!

Thanks!

Option b) would set you up nicely, but I'd imagine that a nice Quad Core CPU could be bought second hand and may get you through! (working in your current MoBo)

I currently use a Noctua NH-U12P which I have to say is awesome and probably won't need replacing. I just need to apply to Noctua for the additional bracket to convert it to an LGA1155 board.

Cheers for replies so far

or because Asrock are so awesome, it has socket lga775 holes too.

The only slight thing that may bug you is the cooler will be fitted at a slight twist as the holes are placed not to be near the standard 1155 holes.

it shouldnt be a problem as long as the cooler still fits over the Asrock heatsinks. May be best to order the bracket pack anyway (just in case) since it's no extra cost.
