I've booked a hotel for my girlfriend's 21st in Bath next month and I'd like to book an independent restaurant in the centre. There's a huge list of 41 on Visit Bath's website so picking from that would be a stab in the dark.

Quirky, rustic and different is good. I've heard a good thing about Yak Yeti Yak where you can sit on the floor to eat which sounds interesting. Any other recommendations?

Food and budget-wise I have no preference, but obviously as it's for a 21st nothing too low budget.

http://moonandsixpence.co.uk/ has been around forever (for as long as I've been anyway) and has always been fantastic when we've visited, albeit on the rare occasions I visit my home town.

I thought the Moon and Sixpence had changed hands/name after this: http://www.thisisbath.co.uk/Sickene...orced-eatery/story-11327804-detail/story.html ??

Hope it's still going as it was a fantastic restaurant - when I went there in the summer of 2010 the head chef hadn't changed for 20+ years!!

I've also been to Yak Yeti Yak, bit different as the OP says, but the food is good and it's worth going if you fancy something away from the norm.

The Hole in the Wall is another place I'd recommend, as is GG Steak House (www.ggsteakhouse.co.uk‎).

If you want curry, Rajpoot is probably the best (in my opinion).

Hope that helps :)

I once had a steak at a place called Hudsons bar and Grill. It was absolutely fantastic.

Steak was cooked perfectly, their chips are salt and pepper 'shoe string' fries and were really good, topped off with a bearnaise sauce on the side. It was a really nice meal, also had tempura prawns to start which were fantastic.

Overall I really enjoyed it. Only things I will say is it wasn't the cheapeast of places but being good steak we weren't surprised, and this was about 3 years ago so may have changed since.

Seconded, Hudson bar and Grill is ace for steak (or at least it was 1-2 years ago).
