Hi guys,

Early next year, around February time, I want to take 2 weeks off travelling in India. Nothing extreme, but I want to start in Goa. I want to backpack and move around.

Anyone ever been with any do's and don't's?

Also, my friend who regularly visits to do chilli farming and lives out there for a few months at a time, said that for 2 weeks, I won't need more than £200 spending money (inc hotel stop off's and food!!!), is this true?

Thanks!

Sadly 2 weeks is all I can give, I could push 4 weeks but that would be 4/5th's of my years holiday :(

Plus, 4 weeks would be extreme for the first time trip no?

I would like to land in New Dehli and travel to Goa over 3 weeks then spend the final week in Goa... Is this possible? Where would one stop through out that trip?

EDIT: on a comment above about Goa, how about a little less time in Goa then?

Thats exactly what we did.

Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi and then flew from Patna airport to Goa via Mumbai for 1 week

Seemed about the right time to do that - Youll need some time to relax after the intensity of Northern India!

How did you plan this for flight wise?

As the costing for 3 seperate flights is very expensive, the single out to New Dehli is around £350! Where the return to and From Goa is around £470

So not sure how to work this out, would like to book flights next month ideally.

We flew to Delhi with Jet
Patna - Goa - Jet Lite
Goa - Home - Jet (under Virgins name)

Paid 400 to Delhi, and about 250 back from Goa each.

We spent 750 between us the whole time we were there - on food, hotels and being tourists!

So, say I take £500 for spending, that should be enough, whats the situation on banking over there, I never carry more than £50 in cash, ever lol.

And that's not to bad on the flights... I might just do a trip around North India though, skipping Goa. Do a loop sort of thing. Flight will cost around £450 and save me some pennies. Meant to be saving up for a house deposit!
