As its Friday night me and the mrs are getting an Indian but I want something different.

She will normally get a chicken korma with pilau rice and garlic nan and I will get a lamb madras with keema rice and keema nan.

On to of this we get a onion bahji each and some chicken tikka and tandoori chicken.

I fancy something different tonight instead of madras but it needs to be able to have ban bread dipped in it but don't fancy going hotter than madras.

Discuss :)

out of the limited number of dishes served at an indian restaurant, are you really having that much trouble? try something from their specials maybe?

Tarka Dal is a nice side to try if you want something to go with bread.

Ah well you cant go wrong with a balti! Dupiaza and rogan josh's are both very nice and defiantly worth trying if you haven't had them before, these are all generally medium curries so less hot than a madras.

You like sweet or hot or both?

As for naan it has to be a keema, not been able to find a decent garlic naan bread
since double diner is gosforth shut down.

Starter I love Chicken Chat when done properly.

Chicken chat sounds nice. I just want something creamy with a lot of flavour. Short of a korma I don't know lol.

Dhansak is the one you want. Perfect for running breads through (naans, chapatis, or parathas), hot without being a killer and with a great flavour.

Cant go wrong with the house Biriyani, with a madrass sauce and garlic naan.

But try something from the chefs specials. Many will have packistani/bengali dishes on.

Can land some outrageously good currys from that sort of menu!

Anything Murgh tends to be amazing. Also try a peshrari (spelling way off) nann, nice and sweet and a (in my view) the best nann.

Lamb Pasanda next time too mate, my local makes a cracking one I normally like my curries hotter but its damn tasty. As above Patia is a decent choice too.

A lot of the indian menus I get thru the door call the same things by different names tho lol dunno if thats just up here.

I hope you remembered a keema nan ;)

if you like madras you'll love Pathia, far more flavour....my go to dish to test any new curry house out :)

EDIT gah searched the thread for pathia but it has been referred to as patia above so didnt come up....seems both are correct.
