hi all

my smax has a strange fault. the left hand side indicator is fine but the right hand side flashes really quickly and its only the front and side that work, the rear light doesnt.

any idea?

seems to have started after i went to a bike shop the other day and the missus let the kids in the front of the car.

ok thanks guys, easy to replace? never had to replace a headlight or indicator etc. before in 15+ years of driving!

It'll say how to in the manual. If there's any sense in the design there'll be a removable cover in the boot/tailgate allowing you easy access to the light assembly.

Usually with Fords the cluster has to come out, but is easily removed as they are held on with wing nuts that can be undone by hand.

That's how it's done on an smax.

Op - if in doubt, drive to to down to halfords and they'll change it for you.

Pop to any indie garage if your not sure, they'll probably have a bulb in stock and fit it for you.

It flashes faster due to a reduce load on the circuit, as the blown bulb doesn't 'add' any resistance...

I've always been told it is a design characteristic of the flasher unit/relay to inform the driver of a failure. I think in older cars it was a 'feature' in the way the flasher system worked and it's something they have intentionally kept in with the newer systems.
