The last few months I've been building a game in my spare time - there's a long way to go yet, but there's enough to show some, and I'd really like to get some opinions, assuming your criticism is constructive

I'll give you some words, a video and a website, hopefully you'll tell me what you think:

OreSome is a 2D strategy game about ore – exploring space for it, fighting aliens for it, blowing up planets with it. Build a network of frames and bots to defeat your enemies – or just throw a sun at them. In a dying, decrepit universe full of foes, build up your forces and mine your way to the top of the food chain to explore further and further out into the void.

By the time you’re ready, you’ll be powering light speed jump drives with stars, building Death Star style super weapons with black holes and in charge of the largest scale mining operation ever known to man – all working for one of humanity’s least scrupulous corporations – and there’s a lot of competition.

There's also a download up at IndieDB:

Shipyard Mode is the sandbox designer for creating enemies and encounters in OreSome.

It lets the player drop in pretty much any of the items in the game, from suns to enemies and save the designs. If people make anything interesting, all they have to do is send me the save file, and I can poke it into the game in mere minutes. I’m hoping that’ll give OreSome a community that really feels involved with the game.

This is the first release of any kind for OreSome. Please bear in mind, it's early days yet - if you come across any bugs, it'd be a great help if you could send me a report.

It's also kind of learn as you go - there will be a guide posted on the blog relatively soon, but until then, I hope you can muddle through.

Thanks for your time!

Is that through research? Everyone loves research in games! Or possibly just me.

Anyway looking great!

Yep, there's a 9-branched tech tree to work your way through. I like giving the player the feeling of starting small and defenceless, then slowly growing to be able to swat away foes with a thought...

Also, thanks for adding to the sticky.

On a side note, the last few days with Shipyard Mode has shook loose a bunch of bugs. I'll be doing a build (I think) once a week with fixes - and perhaps one new goodie to go with them and keep you interested.
