Just been checking temps..

Core 0 55c
Core 1 63c
Core 2 52c
Core 3 63c

Got a 11 degree difference between 2/3 ? (this is using CPU ID hardware monitor)

Realtemp is giving me 56/63/52/62 So very similar results to the one above.

Can't seen the Thermal grease been a problem, i put it dead center tigthened all screws fully so even pressure is on them. (Exactly how i did it last time) although last time i had a bit too much on, but the tim pattern was equal.

any suggestions? I don't really fancy spreading the tim. Is a 10 degree difference between cores usual?

(been running prime 95 for the last hour or so)

It could have been that a back ground application was running. Indexing your hard drives maybe. Good idea when you are looking at your temps is to have the process manager open. That way you can see what is running in the back ground.

Still reading a difference on the cores, still 10 degrees. Nothing else is running, only Prime 95. everything else is all shut down, nothing which should be accessing the hdd, also can't hear any hdd activity.

getting annoyed with this mounting/remounting thing lol. i'm getting high off the ipa i'm sure.

Anything else to try?

Was just going to post these lol.

Just ran the sensor test on RealTemp 3.60 and it's ran back down to idle...

36/39/21/39

this is the idle temp as it is now... Quite warm inside the case at the moment though.Motherboard is reading 28 degrees... but the core of the processor is reading 21? lol..

Might need some lapping.

Mine is lapped. CPU heat Spreader and Heatsink base but 2 cores in my quad are always hotter than the others. Pretty normal :)

Dont fancy lapping it, giving it all night turned off tocool down, let the ic7 settle a bit n see if that makes any difference...

If not, im going to turn fans down, prime it to 75degrees then take off h70 straight away as soon as primes shut down, and just spread it (i know i shouldnt, but its just to see if it helps... If it does... Bonus, if not im reapplying one last time)

Ive read that the less thermal paste the better? I think il spread with a latex glove, then credit card so its paper thin... then for the h70 il apply thermal paste, but credit card it all off.. Hopefully this will fill any inperfections on the base of the h70.

Will post results tomorow!

I have a few CPU's that have a 8'c swing between cores. My 980X are the worst. But they apparently have sensor issues. The sensors do not accurately read the temps across all cores. I would not worry about it as the max range is within safe range.

been out all day, computers just been turned on 5 minutes ago, checked the temps...

Cores are reading as follows...

33/36/18/34.

The I7 2600k is clocking down at the moment. So it's only at 1.6ghz.

Which temp is most likley??? The 18 degree one i'm getting on my core? Or the one which is around 35 degrees??

If the likley temperature is 35 degrees, i'm not too bothered. but if the rest of my cores should be running at 20degrees.. like the single core... Then i'll be doing some work later on :(.

The cores still stuck 12 degrees below the rest, but at higher temps the first core is lagging behind by about 9 degrees aswel..

Is they a way to "unstick" a cores sensor? Or anyway to push through it or to even re-calibrate it?

Andy one of my cores runs about 9-10'c lower than the rest too ,same cpu as yours on a p8p67 pro .I remounted it about 4 times now ,don't know what else to do but just accpet it as normal ..:)

As 1Day has already said this isn't really a problem and is quite common. My Sandy Bridge hase 1 core that is ~10 degrees hotter than the other 3. And, like Day1, i have built other rigs with similar anomolies (especially Sandy Bridge CPUs) - and put it down to dodgy sensors.

You're idle temps are fine, your load temps are well within tolerance and your not having any stability issues - so i wouldn't lose any sleep about it.

I've just decided to settle with it and just accept it.
My main concern was that the lower temp was the correct temp, and the other 3 had just a bad contact with the paste or something. so it was reading higher temps... But if the idle temp is right for around 32 - 36 degrees then i'm happy with that.
Getting a 50mm assist fan delivered sometime this week, so this might bring the temps down a little bit more with a bit of luck.

Would not worrie

I7 970 has the same 10c differance on the first core compared to the others

I tend to use the X pattern when spreading TX3 on my cpu it is the best way (I FOUND) and i did a lot of spreading with this tx3 it is awfull to use and i tried the grain style the spread style every style you could think of with no real differances in temps so i just put it down to the cpu

As long as you stay whithin safe temps you be fine :D

I get around 87 / 82 / 84 / 78 on my I7 920.

Back when I used MX3 on my previous cooler, I found two horizontal strips 1/3 of the way in from the top and bottom to be the most effective way to apply MX3. I also did the same on my graphics cards and saw huge temperature reductions on both GPUs.

Seems quite high, is that overclocked + full load?
