Our induction hob is now 9 years old and I have noticed on a number of occasions that the touch controls don't work to the touch - We have to wipe controls with a cloth and also our fingers - Can anyone tell me if this happens on modern Induction hobs ? do you need bone dry fingers for them to work - Second question is bridge links to two sections to create a larger cooking area - One thing we have found is when using large pans sometimes a pan next to it isn't fully on the ring. Other than scratches and touch controls the Siemens has been fine.

One I am looking at is AEG HK654400FB - Our present one is Siemens - both 600mm square give or take - I need direct replacement as no room to go wider.

Thanks both - that is interesting to know - I am tempted to change it just because it's old and technology must have moved on in 9 years. Also see that Zanussi do one with control knobs - just not sure about having those sitting up and ruining nice flat surface.

Looks like I was panicking - Back to the drawing board - Neff do a point and twist removable knob which seem to be the answer but I bet that has it's drawbacks - Thanks for the feed back

We have a NEFF with a magnetic removable "disc" works flawlessly... And as it comes off when not in use its kid friendly/proof too

I came across the Neff one and this chef was saying the knobs don't last more than 6 month's - he said they are part plastic and new one is £40 - I really like the idea of the removable knob but now having second thoughts.

As regards pulsing I can't say I have heard or seen mine doing it - if boiling water there is no drop in bubbles rising as though it's pulsed off - I have a Siemens and it's 9 years old.

One thing I found out -do not put your Internet radio near induction hob - Mine let out a long dying scream and never worked since.

Like most things in life you usually get what you pay for.

After reading all this I am glad I spent the money in first place - perhaps I might just keep it as it's so good. :)
