A friend has "given" me her laptop to look at and it is the most infected PC I have every seen! It keeps throwing up random BSODs which are not BSODs at all, but pretend ones. It even seemed to reboot after ne but it did not, because sophos was still running its scan after a few secs. One BSOD said dummy_driver was the cause and some equally odd ones, simply pressing a key returns to previous screen. Had another BAD_POOL_HEADER. This is a format and reinstall, as much as I hate to do this.

Anyone else had these weird not BSODs?

Hehe, I sussed the BSODs, its some sort of prank screen saver! It has also taken over the display setting so you cant change screen saver or the background which has a large warning of spyware on it. Spybot found over 5000 entires and 9 viruses from sophos.

hehe the laptop
when I get anything with that number of infections I packup what I can and format. only way to be sure.

Hmm, perhaps nuke from orbit too? :D I feel I have not given up yet. I am going to create a new profile and delete the old one see if that helps. After completing a virus scan
