Is this likely to be any good?

Would it be a stop gap until Fable 2 or is it completely different?

Don't know much about it, but it seems more of a Final Fantasy type RPG than a Fable type RPG.

It's by Square though isn't it, so should be semi-decent.

I was tempted by it but a few things made me a bit unsure so I thought I'd wait for a price drop or two.

Heh I was reading this thread and thinking to myself 'I bet Abooie is getting this game'

Lol, you just know I can't resist a rpg.

I got it earlier and managed to get the tv off my family long enough to play the first 10 minutes. Combat seems quite action oriented it's nice that it happens without opening a seperate battle arena. The opening sequence looked gorgeous and the game graphics look good if not quite as good as LO. I was a little disappointed that the in game voices were replaced by text within a couple of minutes but I don't think this will really spoil it in any way.

Can't say much more but I really enjoyed what I did play :)

Sounds promising :) I look forward to your full review as your taste tends to be similar to mine :D

I've hated this game ever since it's had DLC on Live and the name had spaces between every character. I N F I N I T E U N D I S C O V E R Y. Urgh.

Know nothing about the game itself though, but judging by the comments here I was right to hate on sight ;) :D

I've now put in about 6 hours and I can honestly say I've loving it. As you know though, I've said this about virtually every rpg I've ever played so you may want to take it with a pinch of salt.

The first few hours are not that great though; why they decided to start you in a pitch black forest I'll never know and with the controls quite 'involved' with a lot of live action it's a frantic start. After this it settles down a bit the first proper dungeon quest is entertaining and fresh and the in game map is a joy. Having the fights happen in real time is fantasic after the random encounters of LO and the contrived light/dark arenas of ES.

The story is pretty good and I'm certainly taken with it and the combat soon becomes excellent with your ai companions actually doing useful and interesting acts regularly. The graphics and sound are excellent, better than ES but maybe not quite up to LO.

The achievements follow Blue Dragon in that there are certain missable event based ones that can be pretty tough to beat though, story based ones and ones for combat and crafting.

I'd certainly give this the thumbs up so far.

Nearly picked this up the other day but after reading what everyone says I think I will now.

Anyone care to comment on the difficulty? I liked the difficulty of Blue Dragon but found Lost Oddysey was a bit daunting..any idea where this is pitched?
