Infinity help

Hi All I have had B.T Infinity installed but i can,t seem to get my p.c upstairs to connect i have the b.t Hub and modem downstairs and it connects fine to my laptop on wireless , can i move the Hub upstairs and connect it to my p.c via an ethernet cable and still have wireless and connection to the p.c will this work ? please help

Provided you have a decent extension running upstairs you can do that. You can also run a long ethernet cable.

why would i need an extension ? as the router would connect to the p.c via ethernet ?

If I'm understanding this right, you need a CAT5 cable between the VDSL modem and BT Hub.

CAT5e / CAT6 Network Cable. Links the VDSL modem to the WAN port on the router.

okay thanks so would i need this CAT Cable on the Asus router if i replaced the B.T Hub ?

The Ethernet cable goes from your VDSL Modem (the openreach whitebox) to your router.
You can use any brand router you wish but the cable is needed.

Alternatively have a play with the wireless settings on the hub: 192.168.1.254 in yer browser settings > advanced settings > Wireless
