Hi All I have a bit of a puzzle ...I have Infinity 2 and when i do a speed test i get 42 meg download speed but when i am downloading a file i,m getting 5 to 6 Mb/s how can this be right ? :confused:

42Mbit / 8 = 5.25MB/sec (I'm sure someone will be along with exact calculation)...

Used to confuse me too despite 4 years if Computer Science at Uni. I never looked to closely at the adverts but did wonder why my 30Mbps connection only ever saw 3MBps. Just never looked at the different 'B's.

ISPs may as well start using bps, if BT or Virgin rebranded thier connection with a 30,000 bps connection punters would flock to them, without realising

You REALLY didn't pay attention in that class dude.

30Mbps = 30,000,000 bps.

;)

In a thread about the confusion between bits and bytes Gambisk has managed to get confused about the difference while trying to be clever. Oh the irony!

People seem to be missing the difference between Mbps and Mibps as well.
